We are a not-for-profit federal organization registered in Canada. (Reg No. 1683799-9 under Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act). We are a group of neonatal clinicians with a common interest in education for the healthcare team caring for the newborns and tiny preterm babies across the globe by providing education on physiological understanding, troubleshooting and appropriate clinical decision-making on clinical emergencies using bedside ultrasound tools as well as transforming physiology oriented care into clinical practice
We envision a world in which every newborn has access to optimal neonatal care throughout their hospital stay—and graduates into life with minimal or no long-term morbidity. By advancing early detection and rapid intervention, we strive to ensure that even the most vulnerable preterm infants can survive and thrive.
Our mission is to advance neonatal critical care through international, multidisciplinary collaboration, education, and innovation. CNPOCUS is committed to empowering healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to identify, diagnose, and manage critical conditions in newborns—using point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and other modern assessment techniques at the bedside.
Premature birth is rising globally and remains the leading cause of neonatal mortality. Among survivors, the risk of cerebral palsy, neurodevelopmental delay, and lifelong disability is significantly high. Effective prevention and intervention require timely identification of complications, strong interprofessional collaboration, and the rapid translation of scientific knowledge into clinical practice.
To meet this urgent need, CNPOCUS was founded as a global educational and knowledge-sharing platform. Our focus is on training and supporting neonatologists, physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare providers in the use of bedside ultrasound and evidence-based clinical decision-making pathways—readily available when and where they’re needed the most.
CNPOCUS is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by an Advisory Steering
Committee composed of globally recognized leaders in neonatology and neonatal POCUS.
Our objectives are achieved through the dedicated work of seven specialized committees:
• Strategic Planning Committee
• Membership Committee
• Financial Committee
• Educational Committee
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Simulation Committee
• Communication and Networking Committee
• Quality Improvement and Research Committee
Together, we aim to educate and collaborate with clinicians worldwide, united by a shared mission to protect the future and improve the quality of life for every newborn.
